A Teenager's Guide To: A Lazy Sunday by AJ-Rox   4/19/09 The more fun a teenager has in his weekend, the lazier the upcoming Sunday becomes for him. A recent survey reveals that 70-80% of teenagers spend their Sundays watching Television, playing Video Games or simply snoozing. But these slothful hours can be utilized for some really interesting and creative activities, so here's a teenager's guide on how to remove the "Lazy" from a Sunday. 1. Make a YouTube Video: Please don't say that you don't know about YouTube. Why not make a video and upload it online? It can be anything, you singing a song, dancing, reviewing your favorite gadget, or maybe just telling a joke. It will latently polish some of your artistic skills too. Next, edit the video to make any improvement and changes, and then upload it to YouTube for the world to discover. Who knows? It might just be your stepping stone to success. I myself have a YouTube channel and hundreds of people watch it, the same can apply for you. 2. Connect with the Unknown: This is a very interesting activity. Write a letter describing yourself to someone; include your e-mail address or Social Networking site ID in the letter, exclude any personal information, and don't forget to be friendly. Then slip the letter into a bottle, close the cap, and set it afloat on a nearby river or sea. Alternatively, you can attach the letter to a Hydrogen balloon and set it flying. You never know when you might get a mail from the "Unknown" and a letter friend too. Personally, I never got a reply, but you might just get lucky. 3. Re-establish Relationships: Have you had time to sit next to your parents and talk to them about your feelings, ambitions, wants and fears in the past week, or maybe the past month in some cases? If not, then there is no time better than now. Most parents are free on Sunday, and can give enough time to you so that your relationships can be re-established. This is a necessary activity since many teenagers face the problem of low interaction with their parents. P.S.: Your parents might agree to buy you something costly if you are close to them. 4. Go for the weekly maintenance: Any organized person would love to keep his/her things organized, but a teenager just doesn't have the time. Well, now you have. Utilize this day to clean up your room, organize books, music collection, decorate your room, update your gadget's firmware version, update your iPod's music library, and manage notes, contacts, etc. on your cell phone. I still remember how happy my parents used to be when they saw my room neat and clean, and I always got a reward due to it. 5. Write: Why not write a review of your favorite music album or video game and post it online, at a website or at your own blog. Why not write an autobiography, or just maintain your personal diary. If writing is your passion, then it's a very rare case that you might feel bored. Compose poems and post them online, or why not start writing a tale, after all, even Harry Potter was the work of someone's imagination. The sky is the limit. I usually maintain my personal blog on Sundays. 6. Participate in Contests: Take this activity as a future investment. Fetch the latest copy of your favorite magazine, and participate in the various contests and article demands in it. Even if you do not win the contest, most of the magazines will send you a Consolation Prize or Participation Certificate, or they might just be kind enough to publish your name in the next issue. Not to mention the happiness you will experience in case you win some goodies from them. 7. Practice Random Kindness and Senseless Acts of Beauty: This is a very popular sentence, with a very sensible meaning. In it, you will have to commit senseless acts, like dropping some money on the street. But it will be regarded as an act of beauty in itself as you will just make the day of the person who finds it, someone you don't even know. There are lots other ways, like donating some medical aid, food or anything to a charity, etc. And always remember, God is watching. 8. Spice up your wardrobe: A style freak? Just use the wax crayon technique to write something on your shirt, or do embroidery on your jeans. It would be nice hearing a "Wow" or "Cool" comment from a friend. Get into fashion by adding a personal touch to your clothes, and try to be as creative as you can. I usually write quotes such as "I look like AJ-Rox", "Don't look at me, I'm shy", etc. on my shirts, it's fun when you add humour to your clothes. 9. Bring out the DJ in you: A music lover? Why not remix your favorite track? Just download or buy a Music Mixing software like "Virtual DJ", then download some beats from the Internet, record your own vocals if you want to, and then out the DJ in you. Who knows, your version of the song might be better than the original one. Upload it on the Internet to know whether or not you did a good job. I once tried to mix a song but messed it up big time, so do some practise before your actual remix. 10. Research: You should never be quiet when there's a group discussion going on, and for that, you need knowledge and news from various fields. Subscribe to feeds from different sites/blogs and read them weekly to know all the latest events and happenings. You can also do some Research on your favorite field, say technology. This way, you will always have something to say when a group discussion is going on, or a new one if it ends. I did a lot of research on Technology, and now I'm the first priority of people when it comes to technological consultation. These ten activities are guaranteed to make your Sunday a lot more interesting and interactive than usual.
